Report Hazing

Please report situations that could be dangerous or involve the possibility of imminent harm immediately by calling 911. Calls placed to 911 via any campus phone or cellular phone located on campus will be routed to the UC Santa Cruz Police Department.

If you have concerns that a UC Santa Cruz campus organization could be hazing, we encourage you to make a report via the reporting page by selecting “Policy Violation Report” from the drop-down menu. Reports can be made anonymously; however, anonymous reports frequently fail to include sufficient information for action to be taken.

We do our utmost to protect the identities of reporting parties. In the past, reporting parties have created new email addresses solely interact with campus departments and learn more about what reporting may entail including how actionable an individual report may be if filed anonymously. Generally, the more information that is available regarding hazing including names, dates and locations will be more actionable than more generic information. If you choose to make a report through the the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Education (OSCCE) and prefer to remain anonymous, every attempt will be made to accommodate you in this regard; however, your anonymity cannot be guaranteed. If a student is charged with a disciplinary violation, that student will have the right to review all information that will be considered by the appropriate disciplinary body when adjudicating the charge, and it may become necessary to disclose names. Regardless, be assured that no student will have access to documents bearing other student’s names or identities, without that student’s written permission.

In order to investigate an incident, the following information should be provided:

  • Name of the organization
  • Date, time and location of the activity
  • People who were present
  • Detailed description of the activity
  • Witnesses or others who can corroborate the information you are providing
